National Trust for Scotland

The National Trust for Scotland have, like the majority of charities across the UK, have noticed that there is a decline in the number of visitors using cash whilst visiting their many locations – which led them to explore a more accessible, contactless donation alternative to the traditional cash box.

Very early on in discussions with National Trust for Scotland, it was apparent that their requirements were complex, needing to provide a donation station to a mixture of sites ranging from indoor, well-served areas, through to outdoor, off-the-beaten-track locations where a robust, waterproof and fully self-serve, low maintenance solution would be required.

We were able to provide our Payter P66 devices, and recommend one of our trusted partners to supply branded indoor, and outdoor, donation solutions to house these devices to make the devices more appealing to visitors attending their locations.

Since the end of the first-year pilot, we have been able to continue supporting National Trust for Scotland, providing a range of portable handheld devices to enhance contactless donation availability across a wider range of sites.

The team at PayaCharity have been helpful and have worked with us to deliver contactless solutions to urban places, heritage spaces and wild landscapes!

Customer comments

Many of the visitors to our places don’t carry cash, and many may not realise that we are the charity who cares for the landscapes and places they are enjoying, contactless donation stations raise awareness and deliver a non-cash opportunity to give!

Wanting to explore various contactless options in many different places, the PayaCharity team were able to talk us through options and requirements to ensure that our pilot would test our criteria and enable us to make informed decisions for our roll-out.

So far our pilot is delivering results and, importantly, it is helping us learn what we might want to develop for the next phase of our project, and what we may want to drop.
